State of California takes LARPD property taxes

Alex Dourov - Livermore Area Recreation and Park District Board of Directors candidate

The state continues to take LARPD property taxes. LARPD residents pay $7.2 million in annual property taxes to support the Livermore parks and recreation programs. The state TAKES $3.6 million of this annually that's 50%!

Since 1992 LARPD has lost more than $29.1 million to the state. Had LARPD had this money, it could have provided more programs and facilities for teens and seniors, completed the Robertson Community Park development and much more.

The State of California began taking LARPD property taxes in 1992 to patch its own deficit. They take the money year after year and spend it on items and programs completely unrelated to parks and recreation!

Money that YOU have authorized LARPD to collect ONLY for the parks and recreation programs. Money we never see back in our community.

The state continues to take an increasing amount from LARPD each year. This year the state took 50% of your tax dollars - away from LARPD. What are we in store for next year?

Please call or fax Governor Gray Davis:

Voice 916.445.2841      Fax 916.445.4633

or send him an email: governor@governor.ca.gov

and tell him to STOP: you want LARPD money to stay in Livermore and be used for its intended purposes of recreation and parks.

You can make a difference - both in writing to the Governor and by electing Alex Dourov to the LARPD Board of Directors in the November 5, 2002 election.
